This quilt was made in 1948 and signed and dated by Mrs. Verna M. Sutherland and her mother Bertha Garrett. It is a finely executed hand-stitched copy of a quilt designed by Arsine Kelly Bowen of Cortland, NY in 1857. Records indicate that the pattern was published in a popular women's magazine, possibly Women's Day.
