Name: Album Appliqué Quilt
Dimensions: 83" x 75"
Date made: 1851
Date Acquired: 1967
RMSC Accession#: 67.141.1

This quilt was made in 1851 by Amanda Stevens, the great aunt of the donors. The pattern is a combination of the chimney sweep pieced block and appliquéd flowers. The signatures are from around New York State, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. This quilt was referred to as a "bridal quilt" in earlier documentation.

One of the inscribed squares has this little poem:

If every kind word were a rose
And the rose had not a thorn
The path through life with loveliest flower
Fair friend I would adorn
